Bought this rack after trying/considering several others that did NOT fit my Marin 29er well. This rack is more expensive than many, but if well-designed, sturdy bike peripherals with great fit and finish ring your chimes, this is money well spent. For the record, it fits my Marin hardtail equipped with Maxxis Crossmark 29 X 2.1 tires by MAYBE 1.5 mm clearance at the hardware connecting the leading braces to the seat stays (which are affixed to the rack at their max extension). I could use a metal grinder to shave off the corners and get more clearance, but since they technically clear now, forget it. If the wheel went out of true, the tread would make contact though. I did not use the supplied skewer, but instead attached directly to the frame. It's almost perfectly level and the rack is ROCK SOLID. I didn't know it was possible for a rack to exude fine German engineering, but this one does. Materials and design are fabulous. BRAVO!

I like the tubular steel construction. The initial quality seems to be excellent. I still had to use about one half inch of spacers to clear my disc brakes. The struts to my seat tubes were too short and I am not going to pay extra to get new ones. I just won't have a perfectly level rack. Instead of having a traditional notch at the bottom of the rack for attaching pannier hooks, this rack has a short welded piece of steel located higher on the rack. I could not properly attach my pannier because of this design and I have no idea why anyone would design a rack like this. I am going to have to attach some sort of hardware or file a notch on the bottom of the rack so I can properly hook my pannier onto it. I think if I were to do it all over again, I would just buy a traditional rack since I had to use spacers anyways.
