Racktime Travelit Rear Panniers

Stock status: 1 in stock

Economical Bike Touring

The Racktime Travelit is a set of two panniers that are ready to accompany you on your bike touring adventures. The Travelit is an affordable bag that will not break the bank and works great with the similarly economical Racktime Bariit/i Handlebar Bag, as well as most bike racks.

Each Travelit has one large main compartment with a drawstring and cordlock. A top flap, which has a small organizational pocket and another pocket with a built-in rain cover, folds down over the main compartment and secures with two buckles on the outside of each pannier. There is a large, expandable side pocket to create more volume in each pannier, which can be folded and zippered shut when not in use. There is also a small mesh pocket on the outside of each pannier.

The Travelit mounts to your bike's rack with the Ortlieb QL1 mounting system. Each pannier weighs in at about 2 lbs. each and has a volume of 2800 cubic inches.

Comes as a set of 2 panniers.

  • Available in Asphalt/Chili and Asphalt/Black
  • QL1 mounting system
  • X-tension sidepocket
  • Mesh front pocket
  • Rain Cover
  • 3M reflection striping
  • Weight: 1900g / 4 lbs 3 ozs.
  • Size: 46x34x16 cm (each side) 18x13.4x6.3
  • Volume: 2x23 Liters / 1403 cu. inches

The Racktime racks have a ten year warranty, and the bags have a five year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

I bought these panniers for weekend trips, not daily commuting, so I didn't need a 100% waterproof bag (the panniers do come with rain covers). I took it on one weekend biking/camping trip so far, and it worked well. The attachment system is the best part. I got this bag instead of Ortlieb models because of the cheaper price. The main buckles can be a little hard to open, since the spring of the buckle clip is tight, but maybe that will get better over time. Overall, though, plenty of space and good attachment system are why I bought it and I think I got what I paid for. Also, no problems with BikeBagShop.com. The process was as easy as buying on Amazon.com.

I bought this set as a replacement for my pair of Deuter bags, the model for these Racktime versions. The Racktime bags are about half the cost but less than half as well made. In fact, I was pretty disappointed by the quality. While I do like their actual design, the materials and construction are flimsy, and even though the fit can be customized to the rack it's not going to be a solid mount. These bags are sufficient for light use, probably, but I don't expect them to hold up well for daily commuting, especially in wet weather, and I doubt they can handle much stress under a heavy load. The price may be right for certain needs, but I wouldn't recommend them for serious commuting or touring.

I use them for a short commute mainly, Attaching and removing the panniers from the rack is easy. Good clearance between the bag and my heels. It would be nice if they came with a strap or mechanism for carrying that doesn't actuate the attachment mechanism.

I have been using my new Racktime Travelit Rear Panniers for a few week now and man are they great. I commute to work (16 miles a day). I was using my son's messenger bag from school, but my lunch and clothing just did not fit. The first weekend with my new panniers, I bicycled to the supermarket and bought milk, juice, bread, and few items . . . it was great. My next adventure will be to by a bicycle trailer, to be continued ....
