Racktime Addit Rear Rack

Stock status: 3 in stock

Award Winning Rack

The Racktime Addit is a heavy-duty, functional rear bike rack that works great for hauling loads around town or going on a short bike tour. The Addit was the winner of the bronze Eurobike Award in 2009 for its innovative design, functionality, sustainability, and environmentally-friendly nature.

The Addit is similar in design to the Racktime Touriit/i, and while the Addit can carry the same amount of weight as the Tourit - 30 kg. or 66 lbs. - it is slightly lighter than the Tourit. The Addit has a second lower rail for rear panniers beneath the main deck of the rack, which provides for a low center of gravity and added heel clearance. The rack's design also protects rear tail lights that can be mounted on the rack.

The Addit can accommodate both 26" and 700c bike wheels, and it is available in black and silver. The Addit is compatible with all Racktime products and components that use the Snapiit/i mounting system, as well as most standard rear panniers.

Great Rack. Rock Solid. The extensions need a minor bend each to fit my bike frame bolts and look perfect. Good price for a solid product.

Let's face it, aluminum racks always seem to get a bad wrap, and I laugh every time I reread the story about the guy on an important mission up in the Himalayas, whose rack tears apart at the most inopportune time. Lucky for him, his rack is made of stainless steel, and there just happens to be a welding shop nearby , up in the mountains, that is quickly able to fix the problem, thus allowing the bike rider to reload all his gear and continue on his important mission. Personally, I have owned several aluminum racks through the years, have had them loaded up to the max, and never have I encountered anything worse than scratches to the surface of the rack. I'm not knocking stainless steel racks, mind you - I love them, but they seem a bit out of my price range; and, I must admit, there are some very mediocre rack out on the market that give aluminum a bad name. That said, I want to share with you how happy to have purchased the Racktime Addit Rack. It is beautifully designed, simple yet elegant (I can see why it won a design award) and I love some of the well thought out features on it, like lower rails for rear panniers, the way the rear light mount is protected, and most importantly, how the rack is attached to the bike. It reminds me a lot of the Tubus Cosmo Rack, with almost the same weight carrying capacity, yet it is about a third of the price, being that it is made of aluminum, as opposed to steel. It has a 10 year warranty, so I think the people who make and sell it, think highly of their work. I got the rack in silver and it looks very nice on my bike. Recommended.

Nice rack, solid construction. The second lower mounting rail is a useful feature for lowering c/g. Mounting clearance works well on my hardtail mountain bike with threaded inserts and dropouts. The product description does not mention that long Roundstays are included with the rack. I ordered an extra pair that I don't need.
